I removed my white silencer and my snorkel on my GT. I taped up the holes in the snorkel and put it back in and drove a while. I then took the snorkel assembly out completely and am currently running this way now.
With the snorkel out, there is a huge area for air to come in. This is good. The only downside is it is all hot air from under the hood since the snorkel is no longer sucking in cooler air from the fender hole. This is bad.
I am planning on making a part that will go over the hole and route it to the fender. I'm not sure how the n/a box differs from the turbo box though. I know with the snorkel removed there is a big oval area for air to come in.
It sounds a little louder and it seems to drive a little better without the snorkel in it. I have had it out for about two weeks with no ill effects. No engine lights and it does seem to run a bit better.
You have a choice - restricted cooler air or a huge volume of warmer air. I chose the latter and am happy so far even though I plan to modify more for cooler air intake.
