Most people are easily confused with regard to what product to use on the different components of a cars interior. Most of the dash/door panel’s/ trim/ are made of a combination of plastic and vinyl. You don’t want to condition those pieces, instead you want to clean and dress. Don’t use armor-all. It will leave your dash greasy and oily. Think of dressing as a surface protect ant. Since plastic and vinyl is a closed pour material, water based dressing will work wonders on those sections of you car. On the other hand, leather will dry out quickly and start to crack if you don’t condition it often. In the mid west, I suggest conditioning 2-3 times a year due to changes in humidity and temperature. Today’s automotive leather is painted or dyed to match interior colors, so people get deceived thinking it is maintenance free. When cleaning any interior components don’t use any harsh cleaners, like simple green or 409. I actually had a guy come in to my shop and used simple green on his leather and removed some of the dye from the leather. Then it was too late. The cleaner I have on my web site is PH balanced and safe for all interior pieces. Priced at $8, it is cheaper than most retail products out there. My water based dressing has won many awards whenever I use it on show cars. It has a satin (not gloss) finish, and I use it on tires/wheel wells/dash (it also has UV protection)/door trim/rubber molding/rubber and all molded (not painted) plastic.
