One caution, don't think that brngrhd is recommending running with out a thermostat, many times THAT can lead to over heating, the coolant goes through the rad so fast it doesn't have time to cool properly. I used to run without it on the race jeep, but ran a restictor and electric water pump and fan. 700+ hp small block.

no i am not if you did that it would not get warm because there would be to much flow through the block and the radiator is big enough that the coolant will cool down. what i was trying to say is that there are many different systems. the three pointed out are the mustang the big block that i run and the pt cruiser now yours they are all different. the other point is that the t-stat controls temp not the fan. unless you are going 5mph or stoped. and yes i have heard about the same thing you are talking about with the flow through the radiator being to fast and not cooling the coolant we had to do the same thing to a friends pulling truck. so if you ran a 180 stat the car will run cooler. did the same thing in my dads old truck 1995 big block chevy put a chip in it and a 180 stat temp gauge was lower. do what you want.
