Default Towing 2006 behind RV

I've been towing a 2002 PT Cruiser with manual transmission. The
ignition switch has 5 positions: Lock - Off - Acc - On - Start. All
I've had to do is put the transmission in neutral, and the ignition
swith in Off, which means the steering column is unlocked, but otherwise
the battery is not being drained and the odometer is off.

I just took delivery of a 2006 manual PT Cruiser. The ignition switch
only has 4 positions....Off is missing. It doesn't seem wise to pull
the car with the potential of locking up the steering (it's not locked
as long as the steering wheel is straight up), and putting the ignition
switch in Acc will drain the battery and rack up mileage. I suppose
there's a fuse or two that can be pulled. I'm thinking the easy way out
is to remove the pin that locks the steering wheel....I could live
without that. I was also told that the Off position has been missing
since the 2003 model. Has anyone solved this problem already?
