Just a guess but it might have something to do with the security devices. Never had it happen to the PT, but once in awhile, my Vette won't start. Everything lights up on the dash but no ignition, so I let it sit for 4 minutes and it works. Found out that if the key has been anywhere near anything magnetic, it triggers some sensor that won't let the car start.
Do you both have a second key? Try using them for awhile. Can't hurt.[:I]
