Default Fixing Bead Corrosion ?

I've got corrosion on the bead of at least one of my '03 GT's alloys, causing a slow leak. Slow being down to 2 days. Discovered this when I took it to a tire place and they dismounted the tire. They sanded/filed the corrosion, and said it was at least a temporary fix. It's held 40 psi for a good 5 days now, but . . .

Has anyone had experience with correction of this type of corrosion? Could I hope to recover the other rims as they go bad in the same way for the longer term by sanding and/or taking a Dremel to the corrosion to smooth down the bead seal? I sure can't afford the $630 a wheel for OEM replacements.

Is it really a matter of getting some brand of wheels other than the OEM ones ? Or is it a common problem across brands of chromed aluminum wheels?
