Default Dealership & Tranny Cooler problem

My fiancee's PT was taken to the dealership under extended warranty to replace an automatic transmission that had gone bad. When she picked it up she made it about 5 miles before it over heated and dumped a lot of coolant.
She picked it up saturday and they told her Monday they will check to see if it related the transmission replacement.
I am wondering if the Tranny cooler is integrated into radiator and/or requires purging after an auto tranny install. Common sense tells me it is related.
I need advise to what the dealership needs to do to make it right. I turned the engine over and it didn't sound like she roasted it. (She has no clue to severity of the over-heat).
I am thinking as a precaution they need to replace valve cover gasket, and the thermostat. What do you guys think?
