Default Real-time timing advance @ WOT???

Has anyone, with a boost controller, plugged into the ALDL and noted the timing advance/retard during WOT? GM calls their device a Tech II; I'm not sure what D-C calls theirs. A buddy of mine and I made several side by side runs today to compare his Hallman-equipped Cruiser to my stock Cruiser. When I got the move from a stop or a roll, most times I pulled a length or two and held it there til around 70mph when he began to gain and proceed to blow by me bigtime. I drove his car and it definitely has a lot better off-idle throttle response, probably due to his going into boost almost immediately. His gage registered steadily between 11-14 lbs @ WOT, which brought up the question of why do I pull him initially if he's running more boost than I. We're thinking the PCM may be pulling timing out due to the boost being outside the PCM's parameters or something like that. Anyone have any ideas?
