Gary, from all the things I've seen people discuss and experiment with, it seems the stock Champion copper plugs, part # RE14MCC5 are the way to go. A friend of mine has had good luck with NGK copper plugs as well, part # LZTR5A-13 and they only cost about .20 more per plug.

If you're going Stage 1 I would recommend dropping your gap from the factory spec .050 to .040-.045. I recently regapped my plugs to .042 and installed Magnecor 8.5mm ignition wires. I got the Magnecors from UltraRev.com - http://www.ultrarev.com/ecart/shopexd.asp?id=37461

The most dramatic thing I noticed was the typical freeway passing maneuver: the jump from 65mph to 90mph is just awesome! Blink and you're there. That, and my latest runs at the track showed very consistant 14.8~14.9 sec. @ 91 mph under the hot California sunshine on street tires. Not too shabby.
