Default News from Chrysler dated April 1st

This just came in - direct from Daimler-Chrysler:

Quote:
Chrysler citing the enormous success of the Neon replacing Caliber has decided not to launch a redesigned PT Cruiser in 2008. Instead they will continue to market the car in its current model lineup until 2009. DC management has also stated they wish to move Chrysler upmarket and to do so means the end of the PT Cruiser, which some at DC's German headquarter's feels is "pandering to the lowest common denominator" without much of a return on the large initial investment that it shelled out to bring the PT to market during the 2000 model year.

In other PT news, Chrysler has decided to suspend production of the turbo engined PTs(both HO and normal variants) due to lack of demand. To help further sales and to go along with the PT's retro theme, Chrysler has announced that the 2.2 of K-car fame will be taken out of moth balls to due duty in a sub-$10k model that will also feature a four speed manual transmission, vinyl upholstery, no radio, manual steering/brakes and manual windows. The model known as the PT Cruiser America will start arriving at dealers the first week of April.
