2SB is correct. You do need a front plate, but alot of us do not have them on. We have two PTs and neither has a plate on the front. In the 4 years of ownership we have never been pulled for a plate violation. It is a risk you take, as I know a few that have been stopped by an aggressive trooper, or small town cop looking for something to do. There was a petition last year to get enough signatures to get action going on changing the law. Don't know how that went.
