Mike, you are correct that flashing the Stage 1 module with the standard "dealer" program would return you to a Stage 0. The dealer uses a PROM burner to reprogram the chip.

To be technically correct, EPROM is the abbreviation for Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. EEPROM is Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. Typically EEPROM is used in most applications since EPROM uses ultraviolet light to clear the memory prior reprogramming where an electric charge is used to erase the EEPROM memory.
