I've also had puddle situations which left the fogs looking like an aquarium.
In order to get the water out, I used some foot-long vinyl tubing and papertowels. Roll a half-sheet and jam it into the tubing so about an inch or so is exposed. Feed it into the socket hole and let the towel absorb the H2O. You'll have to do this several times until dry. Go ahead and twist it around in there to clean the fog from the lense.
I thought of this method while staring at the work bench. Those two items just came into view somehow. Love to keep the ol' noggin a thinkin'.
