Here in Guadalajara, Mexico the downpours are a normal-almost-daily evening event from may to october, you could imagine some streets seem to go from a normal/small rain drainage stream to a real river in few minutes, i try to not use the GT when is raining because that plus the bad/cheap paving which means instantaneous big holes in this season, but sometimes when is necesary to do it, i do follow the manual and avoid driving on streets where the water level is near/equal/higher to the mentioned on it, so i've never risked the GT on deep waters

But there is this squeaking-chirping-spining sound after driving for a while or sometimes while driving under middle wheel level or less flooded roadway/streets, sometimes i could hear an almost whispering screetch sound when lowering the speed by releasing the gas pedal.
After a enough drying/evaporation time(12-24 hrs) no more squeaking-chirping, and since no engine light came on i will buy your wet belts diag [^].
