My wife bought a new 2003 GT - auto, White and bone stock right down to the tires about 1 1/2 years ago.It has 18,000 miles.
She wants somthing that gets about 30mpg and the GT just is not getting it.
Let's see -

18000 miles at 30 MPG = 600 gallons or about $1260 at $2.10/gallon
18000 miles at 23 MPG = 783 gallons or about $1643 at $2.10/gallon

So - you would have saved $383 or about $256 a year?
Your fuel cost may vary...

How does that compare with depreciation from purchase?

I hope your next vehicle meets your expectations... PT's are not the most fuel efficient, and about average on emissions output.
