I agree with you. But just for the record, oil should be changed because it will usually breakdown, therefore providing less protection.
The common myth is that the oil is dirty. But truthfully, breakdown is what you are more than likely dealing with.
Synthetic oils provide better lubrication, therefore keeping the engine slightly cooler. Breakdown should occur after a longer time than with conventional oil.[8D]
