I know how you must feel, I've been working in my choice career, considered a big time job, since I was 18. Now that your older you look at it as a respected position, this new job, and your right. All you need to do is do what you know how to do and do it well, its that simple. Obviously your good enough for it, or you may not have been put up. If you know what your doing, with your plan, you can achieve most everything. Some things take more time and effort then others, but without effort you get nowhere. Being excited is a good thing, it makes you look interested in the position. Also always remember thier people too, they see you as a possible benefit to them, then things are easier, as many of the others have said here. Sell yourself and take a crack at it.
