Eddie my friend had this happen on his Grand Prix and had no clue how to fix it. Here is my advice. Go to Pep Boys (or whatever you have in your area) and ask for a Rearview Mirror kit. They will know what you are talking about. The key to this, is that the Small metal piece will not make a secure bond with the windshield if the directions are not followed VERY CAREFULLY. Here is what I did:
1. Wear rubber gloves. That way none of the oil on your fingertips can contaminate the Epoxy.
2. Make sure that you take some glass cleaner or alcohol and "prep" the piece of metal and the area of the windshield it needs to be on. Im sure from handling it, you have gotten oil from your fingers on it.
3. The kit I had had a small bulb that you burst and the fluid drained onto the tip. This is the prepping solution so make sure you apply it evenly. I applied it to both the piece of metal and the windshield.
4. When you apply the epoxy and hold the metal piece to the windshield, you will probably get an arm cramp, but you need to hold it there for about 2 or 3 minutes. Apply pressure if you can. If there are any air bubbles it wont stay adhered.
5. I also reccomend doing this in the shade.
6. If all else fails, take it to your dealer and they can do it.

!Good Luck!
