Actually, Howell Automotive has a set of Crane Cams for the GT for $399.95. Crane 2.4 DOHC Camshaft Kit #0014 is engineered for street performance on GT's. I don't understand why a shop would charge so much for changing dual overhead cams. [:I] As the word states, the cams are under the valve cover! Yes it's not as easy as that, but a couple of hours should be enough if you have done it before and know exactly how to tackle the job. Try changing a cam on a transverse pushrod engine! [:0] And that didn't take me that long! The head on our engine works so well because it is of a hemispheric design. In other words, YES it is a partial HEMI engine! The top end of the 2.4 engine is pretty easy to work with compared to other engines, and the bottom end is no harder than other engines. The engine would still have to come out of the car to rebuilt or beef up the bottom end. I'm thinking of getting a set of Crane Cams next year, but first ... Stage 1 and all the nice mods to add to it (upcharge pipe, intake pipe, downpipe, etc...).
