The GT IS different than the 180 Hp engine. The GT has a MUCH stronger bottom end than the 180 Hp Turbo lite. The Turbo Lite is a stock PT engine with a turbo slapped on. Trying to twist more power out of it will result in a blown engine. The stock PT engine is just not strong enough to take much modding. Most of the people who are making big power have redone the whole engine.
This flies in the face of everything I have seen, read or heard. What is the source of this information?
I have to agree with MichaelDay on this, I've never heard anything that supports this claim, and to the contrary tthrift, parts manager at a DCX dealership, checked every part number he could think of for the Lite & GT - everything is the same.

To address quicksilverdon's original question: even if you could, once you put that 180HP PCM into the thing you'd want it out ASAP. Trust me on this - I put S1 in my Lite and would never look back! To quote Jeff Goldblum in Jurrasic Park: You spent so much time thinking about whether or not you could, you didn't stop to think whether or not you should
