Sorry , can't really help with the soft pedal besides the spring mentioned earlier.
I gotta ask though, What have you driven with a floor-pivoting pedal?
Old VW Beetles have them, as do most cars from the 50's and prior, but I can't think of any modern vehicle with that feature.
