Something to think about. It's a possibility why the RSa's wear so quick is because they are high performance tires. HP tires are softer and stickier. And don't last as long. This stickiness is what will improve your handling but at a cost which is wear. I want to get every last ounce of lateral g's as I can. As for importance Horse power and handling are equal as far as I'm concerned. Sticky = good. We need to be comparing apples to apples here.
