If the smoke is blue-ish it is oil burning. Not sure it you have a turbo, but if you do, this could signal bad bearing seals in the turbocharger. Darker smoke is rich with fuel, could be a stuck inejector or a PCM issue causing this. White is water in the combustion chamber usually from a blown headgasket, but this usually doesn't go away as you drive..
