That is exactly the problem with my Daughters Neon and the Optima battery I tried to install. Instead we went with a Sears Die Hard Gold and it lasted 5 years untill we sold the car yesterday! Never had a problem in about 80,000 miles! Original lasted 3+ years!! BTW the Optima and Serars Batteries were about the same price but the Sears included installation and system check.
