Since "S1" came on the market about 18 months ago I have not read or heard of a single instance where a PT Cruiser failed emissions testing, including in states like California, that have some tough standards. However, would recommend you keep your stock PCM just in case you need to put in back into operation at some later date. IMHO, had DC taken the additional time and spent the money to get "S1" CARB certified there would have not been concerns and many more people would have purchased this fine performance upgrade.
