Hey, I noticed you opted for the brushed pedals instead of the polished (wise choice from the pics on their site, anyway) Does the matte finish tend to attract dirt & shoe grime? That finish looks like one of those that could be a real pain to keep clean...

the foam you are feeling is probably the carpet padding. there is no need to pre-drill pilot holes for the dead pedal, just line it up and drive in the screws.
