I posted that and I can confirm now that the wheels on my 05 GT convert are indeed 17X7 w/40mm offset. After going threw 3 sets of tires from my local guy this past week who measured the width for me,I finally settlled on Perelli P zero nero 225/45 zr17, load 91W. Well, I decided to clean up the wheels after the last visit to the tire shop and took them off to do it. After throughlly cleaning the back side of the rim, under the brake dust there it was, part numbers, other identity tags and the measurements inside one of the spokes. Anyone else with a GT convert should check the inside spokes of their rims(you will have to clean out the dust first), if you didn't get a 17X7-40 then you should complain to your dealer, because you probably got rims from a GT 4D instead. They are still only getting the 6"wide according to carsdirect.com. I trust their info because every time I thought they were wrong on a spec it turned out they were right. About the tag issue, I don't know why my build tag doesn't show the rim size and my window sticker didn't list it either, but the size is listed inside the spokes. It is also probably listed on the inside spokes of all the alloy rims put on the PT GT along with the offset. If I had a digital camera I would post a pic of the measurement just because the size issue about all the rims has been such a "hot button"...maybe this is the perfect excuse to get one...
BTW, when I purchased my car in 8/04, I saw a lot of GT converts that had the GT 4D chrome rims on them and the manufactures option listed for the addtional $600or so. So you were getting "chrome rims" but not the ones that came on the car. After speaking with a few dealerships that had no GT converts w/4D rims, I was told they never got any converts with the old rims and if I had seen that those dealerships were ripping people off. My theory is that many dealerships took off the original chromed star rims and told people they were "optional" and ripped off the customer by charging them extra to put back on the original rims that came on the car!
