My Auto tranny on my 01 limited with 67k miles feels sloppy and just not good. When I have it in cruise control at 65 mph, it takes like 30 seconds for overdrive to kicki in, so im sitting there wasting gas at 3000 rpm. At slow speeds, it feels like my cv joints and clutch are slipping, and/or are sloppy. Is my tranny about to bite the dust? If so, what can I do to lessen the impact on my wallet?
This discussion is a little disturbing. I bought my PT because I like the design and functionality, I like everything about it. I also bought it because Consumer Reports has it on their 'Good Bets' list for used cars. Other than one Buick model and the PT everything else is a Toyota, Lexus, Acura etc. Supposedly this is one of the best cars built over here and we are talking tranny troubles at relatively low miles. I checked the Consumer Reports frequency of repairs and the transmission box is marked Red (Much better than average reliability). Nuts
