I would appreciate some imput from members here who are Mopar techs or independents who have first hand experience with repair frequency on the Chrylser automatics. Do more DC trannys fail than other brands? I'm inclined to think that, overall, DC transmissions are no better or no worse than other brands. Maybe that is wishful thinking, but I'm sure Consumer Reports must look at warranty repair reports and other data before rating reliablity of various brands. What do you think?

A lot of people do not rezalize the importance of servicing the trans regulaly. Trans fluid breaks down faster, almost geometrically, with a rise in trans operating temp. I don't have any research on the newer trans fluids but it is no less important to change trans fluid than it is to change engine oil. Since I change oil almost twice as often as factory recommended, about 3000 miles, I would also cut down on the trans service interval if I had an automatic. It is cheap insurance.
