I used 2 wooden dowel rods about 3/4" dia and 3" long to wrap the thread around to pull it tight. Only takes a couple of seconds to wrap them 2 or 3 times and pull tight. Definetly saves the fingers from getting cut and bruised. The 1st one I did I actually damaged a nerve in my little finger from the pressure pinching the skin. I now have very little feeling in the tip of my finger from about 1 1/2 months ago !!! Wood dowel pins made it alot easier the 2nd time.
