Glad you are fine. This isn't something I've heard of on PTs, but anyone who has worked on 15-20 year-old vehicles has dealt with poor connections. When I buy a new old car, one of the first things I do after a detail is to check the connections on the battery cables, all connectors, bulbs and fuses. The hyper ground discussed elsewhere has been proven a few times, and older Toyotas are known to be picky about engine grounds.
