Like OC CRUZER said, It is fairly easy to get those wingy thingies off the doors. Getting all the glue off is a different story, but it is possible. Once they are off you can leave the space as is because the area was painted before the wingy thingies were glued on. I have the E & G stainless steel pieces and think they look great. They help draw attention to my running boards and lake pipes.
