Your saying you can fit a cone style filter in the original air box. Then what, do you plan on leaving the top of the original box off so you can have the looks of the cone filter showing? Is your intension just to update the looks of the engine compartment? Without the top, your going to be drawing in hot air from the engine along with the cool air from the funnel at the bottom of the orignal box. I guess that would work and you can still hide the battery box if that's what you desire. A good quality cone filter like K&N would definitly draw more air than the original filter so you don't have to worry about restriction problems. If it works, and looks good, share your modifications with the rest of the PT crowd. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
