There's usually a metal retainer clip/washer on one of the studs that you need to remove/unscrew with a pair of pliers. It is not necessary to reinstall it.

Just FYI:
It's put on there from the factory to hold the rotor in place during assembly and the factory wheels are designed/machined to provide the necessary clearance so the wheel is flat against the rotor. And it's also the cause of many vibration problems for those that buy aftermarket wheels and don't remove the clip/washer.
