mostly city with a 25Km of highway commute in between. Try to play that point with the wife when I bought the PT. Her answer was "you got the slapstick what more do you need." Now, she slowly coming around when her Volvo tranny died at the young age of 120,000Km. Anyway, how reliable is the Autostick compare to the regular automatic?

No difference, same tranny converter.
My advice would be to change the fluid yourself every 30K miles with a new filter. Use the ATF+4. I have a 5 spd manual in my PTGT but have two autos, 545RFE in my Grand Cherokee and 46RE in my Durango. In both I droped the pans early, cleaned the magnets, changed the filter( 2 in the 545RFE), installed B&M drain plugs, refilled 6 qts or so for normal pan drop service, disconnected return line from coolers, dumped and added 1 qt at a time( start and put in drive for 30seconds or so with foot on brake to pump out 1 qt into a bucket) until I used about 14 qts to ensure all fluid was replaced. Then reconnected return line. I used AMSoil Univesal ATF, runs great.
