Nobody's jumping in here so I'll tell you what I know.
There's no need to reset the ecu every 200-300 miles. I'm not sure where you got that idea. There may be some benifit to disconnecting the battery before a drag race to wipe out the memory if you have been logging a lot of slow take-offs with "lazy" shifting.
The ecu (PCM) will learn your driving style and adjust to it over time. Disconnecting the battery gets rid of any cobwebs in there. Some of us think that a lot of the reports of "improvements" after a modification could simply be due to the battery disconnect. That would explain some of the "Wow, is my Cruiser fast now" reports but after things settle down, not getting faster times at the drag strip.
