Does anyone realize that Bush could not send in troops until the gov asks? Federal law prevents this. I'm sure all the Bush bashers would have praised him if he ordered troops to invade without permission. Regular army cannot be sent in until the guard is authorized and the gov requests it. The gov controls the NG and did not mobilize all the LA guard units availible to use.
The mayor did call for mandatory evacuation of NO but did nothing to facilitate the evacuation. Did he send in the police to ensure compliance? Did he provide any transportation? Why were people allowed to remain? He set up the superdome as a shelter without proper security or essentials. NO has been threatened by these storms for years why did the local government not have contingent plans?
Neither the gov or mayor showed leadership in this crisis yet Bush is to blame. Levee failure had been predicated decades ago but the powers that be in LA and NO ignored the warnings. Why was nothing done in the 90's?
As I sad before this is about shifting focus and public opinion for political gain by the liberal left abetted with their willing allies in the press.
