First, Police are always looking for someone driving "differently" than everyone else. He picked up on your paranoia of driving 55 in a 70. Not letting the car in then slowing down again in front of it was another concern to the officer. I suspect you are a young driver based on your comments. Everything you did from there on heightened his suspicion. Driving past your street further heightened his concern (the police database gives the address associated with a vehicle license number and he had keyed in your license plate number long ago).

He relayed his concerns to the local police who then took up the coverage. Once you finally returned home, all was well.

Crewzin can elaborate.
