Nope. On a turbo '04 you don't have to remove anything (like intake).
Suggest a piece of hose to pull old plugs out and to start new plugs - unless you have a plug socket with the rubber inside to grip the insulation. The plugs are WAY DOWN in there.
I also went with dielectric grease - a little on the ceramic & more on outside of plug boots to prevent sticking, and a dab of anti-seize on the plug threads.
I went 'till snug on the threads, then quarter to 1/2 turn beyond that.
