"Requirement" is too strong a term for sure. We have 10K on our Stage 1 installation (23K total on the GT) and are still on the original plugs & wires. The car still runs great, but since the original wires are known to not be long-life parts it's just a matter of time before they start to cause a 'miss' and driveability issues. At only 4K miles I would wait until you have a problem or around 25K miles to change them, whatever comes first.
