I doubt that DC will make the PT resemble a Magnum, since the Caliber already does that. The shared platform includes the Jeep Compass (looks like a Jeep, not really the Caliber) and the new Lancer for 2007 or 2008.
The new Caliber includes options under SXT for a 1.8L I4, 2.0L I4, 2.0L Turbo Diesel and a gas-electric hybrid. Also included as options are all wheel drive, special rear seats that are either 1) fixed, 2) recline or 3) are removable, but do not recline. Also have sound system options including removeable speakers for tail gate parties, and speakers mounted in the lift-gate.
If the PT retains much of it's classic looks (and I don't see why it wouldn't - it should be easy enough to achieve) AND has the options afforded to the Caliber for the same price-points, then I'll probably buy one. I love the look of the Caliber and I am getting used to the look on the Jeep (don't care for the front end, but the profile looks great).
