I just believe that we ought to exercise purchasing conscience (though
admittedly, I could be better about it myself). You see, it's a
recession when your neighbor loses his/her job. It's a depression
when you lose yours.

I couldn't deduce what your point was because of the vagueness of your first post. The word use and syntax were odd and by your opening statement, you seemed to set yourself apart from "Americans" so I couldn't understand your concern about where our cars or tires came from.
Now that you've been more clear, I can see what your point is and even agree with it. As an example here in Houston where I live, I often make western wear part of my wardrobe and I feel strongly that it should be made in the USA to be "real" western wear. But the stores are stocking more and more foreign made goods. When I want to buy an American flag to display for the holidays, it's almost impossible to find one made in the USA, for crying out loud. It's a sad fact that jobs have been lost here at home and the American worker has bourn the brunt.
So yes, let's not make price the only consideration when purchasing something. Look at where items are made and make that a factor in what you choose to buy, too.
