I own a company that sells office equipment. We offer service contracts and let me tell you service contrats are not designed to save the customer money but to make money for the provider. The same is true of car warranties they are designed to make the provider a profit. That is not to say that sometimes they won't save you money but it is just like the casinos, the odds are always with the house.
