I'm looking to remove the front fenders to create an open wheel look, i.e. the vw's posted earlier. What I'm trying to accomplish is to go for a bare bones, minimalist approach to hot rod building.
I wish you luck with this, but think it out and measure twice, cut once. I've seen PTs without the front fenders, and they don't have the "fenderless" look I think you are looking for. It'll take a good bit of work to make it look right. Do a search for wrecked PTs online (or locally), and check the inner fender area and front edge of the door area.
EDIT there is a small picture, about 2/3 down this page
