There is plenty of turbo in 1st gear. For me, 1st gear happens so fast I am shifting almost immediately. If you are not used to driving a turbo I can see where you might think that. It is not like driving a NA car. If you want boost you just have to go to about 2500-2800 rpm and slip the clutch till speed matches rpm and go from there. I am no expert and I am not flaming anyone, but I have had several turbo cars and it is just different. You probably can't just get into a turbo and drive it well at a brisk pace. You have to anticipate more but the car mag reviews I have seen all put the stick quicker. Even if you have a better reaction time the stick will reel you in before the 1/4 comes up. Heck, it has been about 5 years since I had a turbo and it took me a while to get the hang of it again. I have had it for a couple of weeks now and I get LOTS of boost in 1st gear.
