Sounds like you are talking about the "fitted" guards that run around $25-$28 from the dealer?
If so, there is only 1 hole to drill for each guard and that is in the plastic fascia, not the steel. The rest of the mounting uses existing holes and screws.
Do they work? You bet they do!
