Dan,

It sure is possible for the novice to change the plugs on the PT. The wires are a weak point in the ignition system also, so you would want to change them while the upper manifold is off. Use Dielectric grease on the plugs wires and anti-seize on the plugs. For a 2001 the hardest part is getting the EGR pipe off the back of the manifold. There's two different size (10mm & 13mm I think) bolts that have to come off before you can move the upper manifold out of the way.
