Trac control prevents wheelspin by (abruptly) applying the brakes.

It is not a very good substitute for a real limit-slip differential if drag racing is your aim.

If, on the other hand, you just want to get rolling on a slippery patch, it can give you a couple of seconds of help... just use a gentle touch on the loud pedal, and traction control is your friend.

As for 1/4 mile times? You will get better ETs with Trac-off... provided you control the wheelspin and counter the torque steer and stay in your lane.
