Since I own a 2001 and a 2006, I'll add my 2 cents into the mix. I have a hard time when trying to figure out wich one I like best. My 01 has a softer feel inside. When you put your head back on the headrest, the 01 just feels much better. The 06 with the open design looks better, its not nearly as soft. Also the material they put into the 06 just doesn't feel as cushy as the 01. The 01 has more of a luxury feel to it, while the 06 is more sporty/supportive. The seats in the 06 also sit up higher than the 01. When I first saw pictures of the 06 interior, I was totally turned off by it. After sitting in one when they first came out, I changed my tune. After driving one for almost 5000 miles, I like the look of the 06 inside better. Well, not the towell rack, hated it from day one, still hate it just as much today. Also didn't like the clock when first taking delivery of the 06. Now, on the rare occasions I drive the 01, I always find myself looking for the clock on the center of the dash. They also improved the sound system in the 06. The speakers in the back doors make such a difference.

The outside I lean towards the 06 as well. I like all the changes done to the outside. The only reason that I lean towards the 06 in this area, is the 01 has the black bumpers, and of course, the dreaded tape marks. All in all, I think they made a nice subtle change to our beloved PT. I am just a little nervous about the 08 redesign. There are some things that I would like to take from the 01 and the 06 to combine them into the ultimate PT.

Ok, so maybe that was 4 cents worth. Keep the change.[^]
