Oh how I wish I was still covered with the 5 year/50,000 miles. I'm at 93,000 and warranty for me is long gone. It's good to hear your story though, Crewzin. At least Chrysler helped you out big time on that one. Thanks for the input, I figured it was all one piece. In the last week I've spent over $1,000 on an overheating issue. With the thermostat and water pump. BTW, I replaced the water pump in june of 2004. It was replaced with a factory part, which has again failed. This is my 3rd water pump, (second replacement.) Both I and my Mechanic have been fighting with Chrysler over this issue, however they still stick to a one year warranty on their water pump.

Now with this exhaust issue, the problem is going to be close to another $1,000. My clutch will need to be replaced soon too, which I'm sure will end up being another 1,000 or more. I really hate to say it, but right now I'm contemplating a quick fix of an aftermarket flex pipe and cat welded together... just to be able to trade in the PT.

Man, I do not want to give up my first car. I really love this car, but it's just getting too expensive for me. I only work part time because I am a full time college student. I can afford monthly payments on a decent newer car, however lump sums all at once for repairs are killing me. Not to mention only getting 15mpg no matter how conservative I drive. Gas is brutal, of course we all know that already.

Sorry to jack my own thread, but I found this as an opportunity to vent. I really just do not know what to do.[xx(]
